The Los Angeles Dodgers\u00a0remain the No. 1 choice for All-Star outfielder Teoscar Hern\u00e1ndez<\/a>\u00a0in free agency, but the two sides remain apart in contract negotiations, a source familiar with the negotiations told Dodgers Nation\u2019s Doug McKain which he\u00a0exclusively shared on the Dodgers Dougout Live Podcast Thursday night.<\/a><\/p>\n

Hern\u00e1ndez wants to re-sign with the Dodgers \u2014\u00a0as he has for the last few months<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 but the two sides remain apart on the average annual value and the signing bonus, per a source. Moreover, Hern\u00e1ndez does not want any deferrals in his contract.<\/p>\n

While the Dodgers remain Hern\u00e1ndez\u2019s preference, the new No. 2 team in the race is the Toronto Blue Jays.<\/p>\n

Hern\u00e1ndez is currently in Florida\u00a0working out with Blue Jays star Vladimir Guerrero Jr<\/a>., and would welcome a return to Toronto. While the Dodgers maintain their status as the favorite, Hern\u00e1ndez would consider joining Toronto if their offer was significantly better \u2014 or, say, had a fourth year. Since Hern\u00e1ndez has a qualifying offer attached to him, though, any non-Dodgers team that signs him would lose a draft pick.<\/p>\n

While the Dodgers and Blue Jays remain the top two candidates to sign Hern\u00e1ndez, there are other teams involved. The Boston Red Sox remain a possibility to sign Hern\u00e1ndez. The New York Yankees remain involved, however, they\u2019re prioritizing a left-handed bat, sources say.<\/p>\n

While these four teams were known to be in on Hern\u00e1ndez, Dodgers Nation\u2019s Doug McKain has learned that two more teams are interested \u2014 and both are in the National League.<\/p>\n

The Cincinnati Reds and Philadelphia Phillies have checked in on Hern\u00e1ndez, however sources say there hasn\u2019t been much progress made on either team.<\/p>\n
