The Los Angeles Dodgers and free agent Teoscar Hern\u00e1ndez haven’t discussed a potential contract in a week, according to\u00a0Dodgers Nation’s Doug McKain<\/a>. The latest update indicates contract negotiations haven’t progressed in recent days.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I can tell you, based on my sources, is that the Dodgers and Teoscar Hern\u00e1ndez, they haven\u2019t communicated for over a week,\u201d McKain said on\u00a0Monday\u2019s episode of Dodgers Dougout Live<\/a>. \u201cThere\u2019s been no communication between the Dodgers and Teoscar Hern\u00e1ndez.\u201d<\/p>\n

McKain believes Hern\u00e1ndez isn’t willing to accept the Dodgers’ offer at this point in time, signaling he will either join another team or the Dodgers will have to increase their offer. It was recently reported that the negotiations between the two parties stalled because of money.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe deal that the Dodgers are offering Teo, I don\u2019t think that he will ultimately accept,\u201d McKain said. \u201cI think the Dodgers will have to up their offer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hern\u00e1ndez had a stellar first year with the Dodgers. From making the All-Star Game to winning the Home Run Derby to hitting a career-high in home runs, Hern\u00e1ndez certainly earned a considerable offer.<\/p>\n

\u201cI do think that he has earned a nice contract to be back with this team. We\u2019re gonna see how badly, though, he wants to be back,\u201d McKain said. \u201cIt might require him to take a little less to be back on a World Series contending club that\u2019s trying to defend their title.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hern\u00e1ndez would make a great addition to the roster, but the Dodgers aren’t willing to create a contract that won’t be successful. McKain said in the case of Hern\u00e1ndez, there are more pros than cons.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor where they\u2019re at right now, the pros outweigh the cons,\u201d McKain said. \u201cIt\u2019s just a matter of getting to a contract they feel good about. \u2026<\/p>\n

\u201cIf it ultimately ends up where Teoscar\u2019s back on this team, you can guarantee yourself that the Dodgers got him back on the contract they wanted to sign him on.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
