It’s been just over a week since former NFL star and Fox Sports analyst\u00a0Michael Vick accepted the head coaching job\u00a0at Norfolk State University.<\/p>\n

Vick, a Newport News, Virginia native, is returning close to home to reconnect with the game.<\/p>\n

The 44-year-old enjoyed a standout NFL career, earning four Pro Bowl selections while playing for the Atlanta Falcons,\u00a0Philadelphia Eagles, New York Jets, and Pittsburgh Steelers.<\/p>\n

While quarterbacking the Eagles from 2009-12, he played under current\u00a0Kansas City Chiefs\u00a0head coach Andy Reid. The two built a bond as every head coach-quarterback duo does, but it’s evident theirs continued throughout the years as they went their separate ways.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

During Sunday\u2019s \u201cFOX NFL Kickoff\u201d show, the crew surprised Vick with a heartfelt video message from Reid. The Chiefs\u2019 head coach congratulated his former quarterback on his new role.<\/p>\n

“Michael Vick, the new head coach of Norfolk State,” Reid said. “Man, is that school lucky to have you. You’re going to do a great job. Those kids are fortunate to have you, and probably most of all to learn from. And you’ll be awesome. You’ll be great for the university. And I love you, and I know you’re going to do a great job for them. So all the best going forward, and I’m now a Norfolk fan.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
