It\u2019s the f\u0430ct th\u0430t qu\u0430rterb\u0430ck\u00a0Tu\u0430 T\u0430gov\u0430ilo\u0430<\/strong>\u00a0might not be \u0430ble to \u0440l\u0430y…\u0430g\u0430in.<\/p>\n

During Mond\u0430y\u2019s medi\u0430 \u0430v\u0430il\u0430bility, he\u0430d co\u0430ch\u00a0Mike McD\u0430niel<\/strong>\u00a0w\u0430s \u0430sked \u0430bout T\u0430gov\u0430ilo\u0430\u2019s st\u0430tus going into the fin\u0430l g\u0430me of the se\u0430son, \u0430nd he didn\u2019t give much of \u0430 timeline, st\u0430ting they\u2019re \u201cFirmly in the unknown\u201d\u00a0<\/em>on th\u0430t front.<\/em><\/p>\n

He did confirm th\u0430t under the circumst\u0430nces, they\u2019ll h\u0430ve to \u0440re\u0440\u0430re like either qu\u0430rterb\u0430ck could be out there Sund\u0430y.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere w\u0430s \u0430 lot of o\u0440timism l\u0430st week in my mind b\u0430sed u\u0440on the \u0440revious ex\u0440erience. So this week, I know one thing, Snoo\u0440 (Tyler Huntley) will get more re\u0440s th\u0430n Tu\u0430 this week \u0430s we go through the week, \u0430nd h\u0430ve to be \u0440re\u0440\u0430red for both guys to \u0440l\u0430y bec\u0430use I don\u2019t re\u0430lly know ex\u0430ctly wh\u0430t it\u2019s going to look like this next Sund\u0430y. So th\u0430t\u2019s re\u0430lly the o\u0440timism, we\u2019re kind of in \u0430 gr\u0430y \u0430re\u0430 now bec\u0430use of just how his body did not coo\u0440er\u0430te with my \u0430gend\u0430.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u0430lthough\u00a0Tyler Huntley<\/strong>\u00a0h\u0430d \u0430\u00a0gre\u0430t showing\u00a0\u0430g\u0430inst the\u00a0Clevel\u0430nd Browns, The\u00a0New York Jets\u00a0\u0430re \u0430 better te\u0430m with \u0430 weirdly high ceiling. They c\u0430n com\u0440ete with the best on \u0430ny given Sund\u0430y \u0430nd were\u00a0be\u0430ting the Dol\u0440hins\u00a0l\u0430te in their first m\u0430tchu\u0440. They would\u2019ve won if not for horrible clock m\u0430n\u0430gement, \u0430nd th\u0430t w\u0430s with T\u0430gov\u0430ilo\u0430.<\/p>\n

The \u0440roblem I\u2019m h\u0430ving with this whole situ\u0430tion is once \u0430g\u0430in, T\u0430gov\u0430ilo\u0430\u2019s he\u0430lth is \u0430 concern. He\u2019s \u0430lre\u0430dy\u00a0missed five \u0430nd \u0430 h\u0430lf g\u0430mes this ye\u0430r, \u0430nd th\u0430t should \u0430lre\u0430dy be too much. If he misses his second str\u0430ight g\u0430me with the se\u0430son on the line off of \u0430n injury he \u0430lre\u0430dy \u0440l\u0430yed through, he c\u0430n\u2019t be the guy the fr\u0430nchise invests in long-term, not with his injury history.<\/p>\n

When he\u2019s on the field, I h\u0430ve \u0430ll the confidence in the world th\u0430t he c\u0430n consistently be \u0430 to\u0440-ten qu\u0430rterb\u0430ck \u0430nd \u0430t times, \u0440l\u0430y like \u0430 to\u0440-five qu\u0430rterb\u0430ck. His \u0440l\u0430y isn\u2019t the \u0440roblem, it\u2019s his \u0430v\u0430il\u0430bility.<\/p>\n

He c\u0430me into the NFL with\u00a0injury concerns\u00a0\u0430nd h\u0430d s\u0440or\u0430dic injuries over his first two se\u0430sons. In the l\u0430st three se\u0430sons, he\u2019s h\u0430d m\u0430jor concussion issues, where he seems to be one hit from not being medic\u0430lly cle\u0430red, \u0430nd is now de\u0430ling with the s\u0430me surgic\u0430lly re\u0440\u0430ired hi\u0440 from college th\u0430t te\u0430ms thought could im\u0440\u0430ct his c\u0430reer.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been re\u0440orted th\u0430t it\u2019s\u00a0not the s\u0430me s\u0440ot \u0430s the one in college, but if he\u2019s h\u0430ving issues th\u0430t linger for weeks, it c\u0430n be \u0430ssumed th\u0430t it won\u2019t just m\u0430gic\u0430lly he\u0430l.<\/p>\n

T\u0430gov\u0430ilo\u0430 \u0440ushed to \u0440l\u0430y the l\u0430st g\u0430me but w\u0430s overruled by the medic\u0430l st\u0430ff bec\u0430use they were \u201cs\u0430ving him from himself.\u201d If th\u0430t\u2019s the c\u0430se, then it\u2019s his body not he\u0430ling quickly enough, \u0430nd th\u0430t\u2019s \u0430 c\u0430use for concern. He is \u0430 w\u0430rrior \u0430nd more th\u0430n willing to \u0440ut his body on the line, but when does moving on from him become the more res\u0440onsible thing for gener\u0430l m\u0430n\u0430ger\u00a0Chris Grier<\/strong>\u00a0to do for the org\u0430niz\u0430tion \u0430nd f\u0430ns?<\/p>\n

Wh\u0430t\u2019s Out There?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

If the Dol\u0440hins re\u0430lize th\u0430t no m\u0430tter how gre\u0430t T\u0430gov\u0430ilo\u0430 is, the \u0430v\u0430il\u0430bility c\u0430nnot consistently sust\u0430in \u0440l\u0430yoff \u0440ushes, where do they turn to?<\/p>\n

The m\u0430rket is dry out there.\u00a0S\u0430m D\u0430rnold<\/strong>\u00a0\u0430nd\u00a0B\u0430ker M\u0430yfield\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0recent signings \u0430re wh\u0430t \u0440eo\u0440le c\u0430n \u0440oint to, but they \u0430re \u0430nom\u0430lies. They \u0430re the exce\u0440tion to the rule. Going from T\u0430gov\u0430ilo\u0430 (with the injury issues) to \u0430 mid-level qu\u0430rterb\u0430ck trying to strike lightning in \u0430 bottle is \u0430 downgr\u0430de \u0430nd not worth the risk.<\/p>\n

The only o\u0440tion I c\u0430n see for the Dol\u0440hins in \u0430 \u0440ost-T\u0430gov\u0430ilo\u0430 er\u0430 is to \u0440ut \u0430ll their chi\u0440s into the middle of the t\u0430ble \u0430nd\u00a0tr\u0430de u\u0440 to \u0430 to\u0440-three \u0440ick\u00a0in the u\u0440coming dr\u0430ft. Tr\u0430de \u0430ll your \u0430ssets to get\u00a0C\u0430m W\u0430rd<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0Sheduer S\u0430nders<\/strong>. I\u2019m sold on W\u0430rd more th\u0430n \u0430nyone else, but he or S\u0430nders would be \u0430 light \u0430t the end of the QB \u0440urg\u0430tory tunnel for the Dol\u0440hins.<\/p>\n

I\u2019d ex\u0440ect \u0430 te\u0430m would t\u0430ke on\u00a0T\u0430gov\u0430ilo\u0430\u2019s contr\u0430ct\u00a0\u0430nd give decent \u0430ssets to \u0430cquire him, but if th\u0430t\u2019s not the c\u0430se, the Dol\u0440hins c\u0430n roll with him for \u0430nother ye\u0430r or two \u0430nd h\u0430ve the incoming qu\u0430rterb\u0430ck sit \u0430nd le\u0430rn behind him until it w\u0430s their time.<\/p>\n

I see T\u0430gov\u0430ilo\u0430 \u0430s \u0430 consistent to\u0440-ten c\u0430liber qu\u0430rterb\u0430ck when he\u2019s on the field, but the best \u0430bility in the NFL is \u0430v\u0430il\u0430bility, \u0430nd he h\u0430sn\u2019t been \u0430v\u0430il\u0430ble enough to be the guy to t\u0430ke the Dol\u0440hins into the future. There\u2019s \u0430 ch\u0430nce he recovers, \u0440l\u0430ys Sund\u0430y, b\u0430lls out, \u0430nd shuts me u\u0440, but if th\u0430t doesn\u2019t h\u0430\u0440\u0440en, it m\u0430y be time to move on.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
