The\u00a0Kansas City Chiefs’ winter weather nightmare, which began before their Week 18 game against the\u00a0Denver Broncos, isn’t quite over.<\/p>\n

The Chiefs\u00a0made it out of Kansas City and to their game in Denver after getting stuck on the runway. Freezing-cold weather caused icy conditions at the MCI airport, and the runways and planes could not be de-iced, ultimately leading to a multi-hour delay in their travel.<\/p>\n

It was a minor inconvenience in the grand scheme of things, but it won’t be the only one before this trip ends. According to CBS Sports sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson, the Chiefs will have to stay overnight in Denver because of the blizzard conditions in Kansas City. They were told that they’d be unable to fly into MCI tonight, but they’ll try again tomorrow when the weather improves.<\/p>\n

The K.C. metro area is expected to receive 8-12 inches of snow, and the airport had an ice issue before the team left. The team will have to wait for the rest of the snowfall to stop, and then they will have to resume de-icing procedures on the runway in Kansas City so that the team can return.<\/p>\n

The good news is that this begins the team’s first-round bye week ahead of the playoffs. The bad news is that they’ll be away from their homes and team facilities, which doesn’t exactly bode well for rest and recovery for the players who need it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
