FOX NFL Sunday star Jimmy Johnson revealed a strong prediction concerning Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The\u00a0NFL\u00a0head coach McCarthy has seemingly been on the hot seat throughout the season.<\/p>\n

Entering Week 17, the\u00a0Cowboys\u00a0won four of their last five games.<\/p>\n

McCarthy\u2019s contract officially expires after the season as Dallas was officially eliminated from playoff contention before their Week 16 win over the\u00a0Tampa Bay Buccaneers.<\/p>\n

During\u00a0Fox NFL Sunday, insider Jay Glazer shared that he expects Cowboys owner\u00a0Jerry Jones\u00a0to meet with McCarthy shortly after the regular season ends.<\/p>\n

Glazer added that if McCarthy isn\u2019t given a contract extension, then there will be other teams that will have the\u00a0Super Bowl\u00a0champion coach on their list of head coaching candidates.<\/p>\n

The former Dallas head coach and NFL Hall of Famer Johnson then made a declaration of the live TV show.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think he will be the Cowboys coach\u00a0next\u00a0year and he deserves to be the Cowboys coach,\u201d Johnson said.<\/p>\n

Fox co-star\u00a0Michael Strahan\u00a0was surprised with Johnson\u2019s take, asking him, \u201cReally?\u201d<\/p>\n

Glazer wasn\u2019t the only insider that gave an update on the situation between McCarthy and the Cowboys.<\/p>\n

Before the Cowboys\u2019 Week 17 matchup against the\u00a0Philadelphia Eagles, ESPN reporter\u00a0Adam Schefter claimed the ball was partly in the coach\u2019s\u00a0court.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt goes both ways,\u201d Schefter said.<\/p>\n

\u201cJerry Jones\u00a0has got to decide if he wants to renew him.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut\u00a0Mike McCarthy\u00a0can go and talk to whoever he wants about a head coaching job.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe can go and listen to the\u00a0New Orleans Saints\u00a0or\u00a0New York Jets,\u00a0or any team that has an opening and wants to talk to him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Schefter speculated that Jones is interested in potentially extending McCarthy but is \u201creviewing his options.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dallas lost 41-7 to the Eagles in a blowout contest.<\/p>\n

McCarthy has been the Cowboys coach for four years after previously leading the\u00a0Green Bay Packers.<\/p>\n

He has a 1-3 playoff record in Dallas.<\/p>\n

McCarthy won the Super Bowl with\u00a0Aaron Rodgers\u00a0at quarterback in 2010.<\/p>\n
