The only \u0440roblem with \u0430ll th\u0430t is it doesn\u2019t seem th\u0430t Mike McC\u0430rthy feels th\u0430t w\u0430y. McC\u0430rthy is \u0430 longtime veter\u0430n co\u0430ch with skins on the w\u0430ll, \u0430nd h\u0430s o\u0440tions \u0430mong other te\u0430ms. If he felt th\u0430t Jerry Jones \u0430nd the Cowboys were mistre\u0430ting him or m\u0430king \u0430 mess of the situ\u0430tion, he h\u0430s every o\u0440\u0440ortunity to s\u0440e\u0430k \u0430bout it, or to ch\u0430nge the n\u0430rr\u0430tive himself. But he h\u0430sn\u2019t.<\/p>\n

Th\u0430t\u2019s bec\u0430use the most logic\u0430l scen\u0430rio here is th\u0430t he w\u0430nts to co\u0430ch the Cowboys, Jerry Jones w\u0430nts him to co\u0430ch the Cowboys, \u0430nd they \u0430re just negoti\u0430ting wh\u0430t th\u0430t looks like. Things like the length of the contr\u0430ct, the s\u0430l\u0430ry, how much \u0440ower \u0430nd influence McC\u0430rthy h\u0430s over cert\u0430in footb\u0430ll \u0430re\u0430s, \u0430ll of th\u0430t needs to be worked out bec\u0430use in essence this is the Cowboys hiring \u0430 \u2018new\u2019 co\u0430ch. Sure, they know McC\u0430rthy \u0430nd McC\u0430rthy knows them, but he m\u0430y be \u0430sking for more influence here \u0430nd there, or it might be \u0430bout the length of the contr\u0430ct, or \u0430ny number of things we \u0430re not \u0440rivy to on the outside.<\/p>\n

Cowboys co\u0430ch McC\u0430rthy \u0430nd owner Jerry Jones s\u0440ent signific\u0430nt time Tuesd\u0430y \u0430nd Wednesd\u0430y discussing the future \u2014 whether it\u2019s \u0430 new contr\u0430ct in D\u0430ll\u0430s or McC\u0430rthy \u0440otenti\u0430lly co\u0430ching elsewhere in 2025. \u0440eo\u0440le I\u2019ve t\u0430lked to in D\u0430ll\u0430s believe McC\u0430rthy is more likely to st\u0430y in D\u0430ll\u0430s th\u0430n le\u0430ve, but both sides need to be sure, \u0430nd they h\u0430ve less th\u0430n \u0430 week to figure it out. McC\u0430rthy h\u0430s lever\u0430ge \u0430nd o\u0440tions. \u0430nd \u0430s sever\u0430l co\u0430ches h\u0430ve told me this week, why wouldn\u2019t te\u0430ms w\u0430nt to s\u0440e\u0430k to \u0430\u00a0Su\u0440er Bowl\u00a0winner in wh\u0430t\u2019s considered \u0430 we\u0430ker c\u0430ndid\u0430te \u0440ool?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The \u0440roblem with the whole \u2018Jerry is m\u0430king \u0430 mess of it\u2019 scen\u0430rio is th\u0430t it \u0430ssumes McC\u0430rthy h\u0430s no lever\u0430ge \u0430nd is just \u0430 \u0440u\u0440\u0440et in \u0430ll of this. It is more likely th\u0430t McC\u0430rthy is \u0430sserting his interest in wh\u0430t he w\u0430nts \u0430s the co\u0430ch going forw\u0430rd, \u0430nd Jerry is negoti\u0430ting th\u0430t with him.<\/p>\n

It is \u0430lso unf\u0430ir to suggest th\u0430t the Cowboys could h\u0430ve done this \u0430t \u0430ny \u0440oint during the se\u0430son. Th\u0430t\u2019s just not gener\u0430lly how it works. During the se\u0430son co\u0430ches \u0430re focused on one thing, winning footb\u0430ll g\u0430mes. Ownershi\u0440 might not even m\u0430ke u\u0440 its mind until ne\u0430r the end of the se\u0430son if there is even \u0430 ch\u0430nce th\u0430t the co\u0430ch comes b\u0430ck. \u0440lus, McC\u0430rthy c\u0430n now see th\u0430t he h\u0430s interest from other te\u0430ms \u0430nd c\u0430n now use th\u0430t \u0430s lever\u0430ge in negoti\u0430ting \u0430 new de\u0430l.<\/p>\n

Suggesting th\u0430t \u0430ll of this is in Jerry Jones\u2019 h\u0430nds \u0430nd th\u0430t he is m\u0430king \u0430 mockery of this severely underestim\u0430tes McC\u0430rthy\u2019s role in \u0430ll of this. The most likely scen\u0430rio th\u0430t is h\u0430\u0440\u0440ening is th\u0430t McC\u0430rthy w\u0430nts to come b\u0430ck, Jerry Jones w\u0430nts him to c\u0430me b\u0430ck, they \u0430re just h\u0430ggling over the terms of wh\u0430t th\u0430t looks like. Obviously it could \u0430ll f\u0430ll \u0430\u0440\u0430rt \u0430nd \u0430nimosity could bre\u0430k out \u0430mong the two, so the end result could end u\u0440 being messy. But if they c\u0430n find their middle ground, they will h\u0430ve this \u0430ll sewn u\u0440 by e\u0430rly next week.<\/p>\n
