The Los Angeles Dodgers trading for All-Star third baseman Nolan Arenado won\u2019t be happening this winter, according to the latest report. In fact, the Dodgers reportedly never participated in trade talks surrounding the 10-time Gold Glove winner.<\/p>\n

Per\u00a0The Athletic\u2019s Katie Woo,<\/a>\u00a0the Dodgers \u201cwere long believed to be a top choice for the Southern California native, but they were not engaged in Arenado talks this winter.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Dodgers were quickly linked to Arenado after he posted a series of photos on his Instagram along with the song \u201cdodger blue\u201d by Kendrick Lamar. While it is no secret Arenado wants to join a contender, it won\u2019t be with the reigning World Series champion Dodgers.<\/p>\n

As the rumor mill sent sparked a trade buzz, the fate of Max Muncy was immediately a topic of discussion. However, it seems those rumors can be put to rest as Arenado will likely stay in St. Louis.<\/p>\n

Cardinals president of baseball operations John Mozeliak, who has been transparent about the organization\u2019s desire to trade Arenado for financial relief, gave a grim update about Arenado\u2019s chances of joining a championship caliber team.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe update would be it\u2019s been very quiet,\u201d Mozeliak said in a\u00a0recent interview on KMOX<\/a>. \u201cIf we have the ability to find him a place he desires, it\u2019s something we are going to try to do. If not, he will have to be a part of our club moving forward.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since Arenado nixed a trade to the Houston Astros, his opportunities to leave St. Louis have decreased significantly. The Cardinals won\u2019t trade Arenado unless the team he goes to is willing to take on a majority of his remaining salary. The Astros had agreed to do so, but quickly pivoted to signing first baseman Christian Walker after Arenado declined the trade.<\/p>\n
