The\u00a0Miami Dolphins\u00a0allowed quarterback Skylar Thompson\u2019s practice squad contract to expire on Monday, effectively making him a free agent after choosing to not sign him to a reserve\/future contract for the 2025 season. The team\u2019s 2022 seventh-round pick was not out of a job for long, however. On Tuesday, Thompson\u2019s agency, SportsTrust Advisors indicated Thompson was joining the\u00a0Pittsburgh Steelers.<\/p>\n

Thompson, who was selected with the 247th overall pick, joined the Dolphins after six years at\u00a0Kansas State. He initially began his career on Miami\u2019s active roster as a rookie, playing behind Tua Tagovailoa and Teddy Bridgewater. He appeared in seven games his rookie season, starting two of them, with a 57.1 percent completion rate for 534 yards, a touchdown, and three interceptions for a 62.2 passer rating.<\/p>\n
