Patrick Mahomes II\u00a0was the subject of a popular social media post on January 14, as\u00a0B\/R Gridiron highlighted\u00a0the fact that the\u00a0Kansas City Chiefs\u00a0quarterback updated\u00a0his Instagram\u00a0picture to a photo flexing his three championship rings ahead of the second round of the\u00a0NFL\u00a0playoffs.<\/p>\n

Needless to say, this profile \u201cchange\u201d caused a bit of a stir on X with over 1,900 likes and 115,000-plus views in a little over two hours. The only problem? Mahomes did NOT update his profile picture on Instagram.<\/p>\n

The Chiefs quarterback is confident, but he\u2019s not one to provide bulletin board material and he certainly didn\u2019t send the\u00a0Houston Texans\u00a0some sort of \u201creminder\u201d ahead of the Divisional Round.<\/p>\n

Instead, this is likely just an attempt at drumming up some social media engagement. And although most commenting fans did not realize Mahomes\u2019 photo has been the three-ring flex for quite some time, a few did point out the accuracy \u2014 or lack thereof \u2014 of this post.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis has been his profile picture since the ring ceremony lol,\u201d one Chiefs fan\u00a0wrote, quoting the post.<\/p>\n

Another\u00a0said: \u201cI hate that I\u2019m this person but this has been his picture for a while now \u2013 so no.\u201d<\/p>\n

And a third weighed in,\u00a0questioning, \u201cthis was his [profile pic] before the season so what\u2019s the point of the post?\u201d<\/p>\n

There you have it, Mahomes has unintentionally caught fire on social media for something he actually did months ago. Hopefully, the Texans locker room doesn\u2019t fall for this fake bit of bulletin board material as many X users did.<\/p>\n
