Following the\u00a0Dallas Cowboys\u2019 decision to split with former head coach\u00a0Mike McCarthy, all eyes shifted to one name \u2014\u00a0Deion Sanders.<\/p>\n

While Sanders has been adamant about his desire to remain with the\u00a0Colorado Buffaloes, no hire would come close to creating as many headlines for the Cowboys. It\u2019s unknown if owner Jerry Jones will continue to push forward in his pursuit of Sanders, but he has made at least one attempt thus far.<\/p>\n

Regardless, if Jones has his sights set on the former Cowboy, it\u2019s safe to say this won\u2019t be the last that fans hear about the potential pairing.<\/p>\n

Sanders may remain steadfast in his desire to stay in Boulder, or maybe the allure of continuing his meteoric coaching rise by taking over the team he starred for will prove too much to resist. But unfortunately for Cowboys fans, there\u2019s more in play here for the 57-year-old than his own coaching desires.<\/p>\n

Sanders\u2019 son and Colorado\u00a0quarterback\u00a0Shedeur Sanders\u00a0is expected to be one of the first quarterbacks selected in the 2025\u00a0NFL Draft. It\u2019s tough to envision a world where Deion winds up coaching against Shedeur and his other son, Shilo, a safety for the Buffaloes.<\/p>\n

So, what do his kids think about the possibility of their father landing one of the highest-profile coaching jobs in sports? Shedeur answered that question on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Colorado\u2019s star signal-caller didn\u2019t offer much, but the quick response given to\u00a0Brad Townsend of The Dallas Morning News\u00a0summed it up well.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it would be cool. What do you think?\u201d Shedeur told Townsend.<\/p>\n

The man dubbed as \u201cPrime Time\u201d returning to Dallas, where he won a\u00a0Super Bowl\u00a0and was named\u00a0NFL\u00a0First-Team All-Pro three times, would undoubtedly classify as cool.<\/p>\n

Sanders admitted to ESPN\u2019s Adam Schefter that he heard from Jones and called the opportunity to coach the Cowboys \u201cintriguing\u201d twice, as\u00a0ESPN\u2019s Todd Archer\u00a0reported.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo hear from Jerry Jones is truly delightful, and it\u2019s intriguing,\u201d Sanders told ESPN\u2019s Adam Schefter on Monday night. \u201cI love Jerry and believe in Jerry. After you hang up and process it, and think about it, it\u2019s intriguing. But I love Boulder and everything there is about our team, the coaches, our student body and the community.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, the potential roadblock of Deion jumping to the NFL has been referenced numerous times already. He even openly stated on Good Morning America last week that\u00a0the only way he\u2019d consider\u00a0a move to the NFL would be to coach his sons.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s a big problem for the Cowboys and specifically Jones.<\/p>\n

Not only is Shedeur expected to be off the board before the Cowboys pick in this year\u2019s draft, but they also signed quarterback Dak Prescott to the richest contract in NFL history before the 2024 season. Prescott\u2019s four-year, $240 million deal will keep him in Dallas through the 2028 season.<\/p>\n

Jones has his work cut out for him if the plan is to put the full-court press on in an effort to lure Sanders back to his old stomping grounds. But one thing that\u2019s certain is that the Cowboys are in for an interesting offseason.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
