Just a few games shy of the season’s midway point, the\u00a0Cleveland Cavaliers<\/a>\u00a0have the NBA’s best record at 39-5, and are six games ahead of the defending champion\u00a0Boston Celtics<\/a>\u00a0for first place in the Eastern Conference. The Cavaliers are currently on pace to win 72 games\u2014one win shy of the 2015-16\u00a0Golden State Warriors’<\/a>\u00a0league record, and well ahead of the LeBron James-led 2008-09 Cleveland team, which finished with 66 wins.<\/p>\n

James would play one more season with the Cavaliers, leaving for the\u00a0Miami Heat<\/a>\u00a0ahead of the 2010-11 season before returning to lead the franchise to four consecutive NBA Finals appearances and a championship in 2016. He ultimately departed once again, this time for the\u00a0Los Angeles Lakers<\/a>\u00a0in 2018, but the Akron, Ohio native remains supportive of Cleveland-area teams including the Cavaliers.<\/p>\n

Appearing on the\u00a0New Heights\u00a0<\/em>podcast<\/a>\u00a0with a pair of his fellow Cleveland-native sports legends\u2014former\u00a0Philadelphia Eagles<\/a>\u00a0center Jason and\u00a0Kansas City Chiefs<\/a>\u00a0tight end Travis Kelce\u2014James discussed the remarkable season that the Cavaliers are having.<\/p>\n

“The Cavs look amazing right now,” James said. “They’ve got another opportunity. I hope they keep it going. They’ve got an opportunity to do something special. I’m glad I was able to put on first, set the trend and hopefully we keep it going.”<\/p>\n
