Dallas Cowboys\u00a0fans can not wait to close the book on the 2024 season after their horrible 3-6 record to start the year, and many of them are waiting for Jerry Jones to fire head coach Mike McCarthy.<\/span><\/p>\n

There were many rumors last offseason that McCarthy would be fired after their brutal home playoff loss to the Green Bay Packers in the wild-card round, but the organization decided to give him one more season.<\/p>\n

There is no way the 61-year-old head coach will be on the Cowboys sideline in 2025, and knowing Jones, he will want to make a crazy splash for his new head coach.<\/span><\/p>\n

A report dropped this week from ESPN\u2019s Jeremy Fowler said that Oregon\u2019s head coach, Dan Lanning, has been mentioned around the NFL for the last few weeks as a name that could be in the 2025 head coaching cycle.<\/span><\/p>\n

The college-to-pros coaching pipeline has slowed a bit, save Jim Harbaugh. But a name that a few people around the league have brought up to me in recent weeks: Oregon\u2019s Dan Lanning.<\/p>\n

Lanning is a winner and has coached both under Nick Saban and Kirby Smart, so the Cowboys would be getting a guy who knows what it takes to win every time you step onto the field.<\/span><\/p>\n
