The\u00a0Dallas Cowboys\u00a0ended their head coaching search on Friday, announcing that offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer would be getting a promotion and taking over the job.<\/p>\n

Fans found something a little odd in the team’s late-night announcement, however.<\/p>\n

The Cowboys had an unexpected vacancy when\u00a0Mike McCarthy\u00a0decided to leave to pursue other options. It was widely expected that McCarthy would return to the team, but the two sides were unable to reach a deal on a contract extension and he ultimately departed.<\/p>\n

Schottenheimer had emerged as a top candidate in the last few days, getting a big endorsement from\u00a0quarterback\u00a0Dak Prescott and ending up on top after a narrow search that included interviews with just two other candidates.<\/p>\n

The team announced the hire in a post on social media, but fans noticed something strange about one of the images used. The Cowboys posted a series of pictures of Schottenheimer, with one appearing flipped so that the “D” on the coach’s hat was facing the wrong way.<\/p>\n

“So is the logo on the hat supposed to be backwards because it\u2019s cool? Or is that just a mistake?” one fan shared in a\u00a0post on BlueSky.<\/p>\n

Another suggested that the team’s social media department may have put the graphic together quickly, flipping one image of Schottenheimer so that all images of him were facing the same way.<\/p>\n
