The Dallas Cowboys failed to meet expectations during the 2024 NFL season, finishing with a 7-10 record and missing the postseason.<\/p>\n

The Cowboys finished third in the NFC East and will now have to watch their divisional rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders, duel in the NFC Championship Game of the 2025 NFL Playoffs.<\/p>\n

With their rivals creating separation, Dallas needed to make a splash with their head coaching hire after parting ways with Mike McCarthy this offseason.<\/p>\n

However, instead of canvassing the league for qualified candidates, the team opted to stay in familiar territory and hire offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer as their new head coach.<\/p>\n

Schottenheimer has been with the organization for a few years now, though his hiring didn\u2019t inspire much confidence around the league as he was immediately dubbed the safe choice for Jerry Jones.<\/p>\n

It appears that Jones isn\u2019t the only fan of Schottenheimer.<\/p>\n

According to Todd Archer of ESPN, Dak Prescott also has a good relationship with his new head coach.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut Schottenheimer had a supporter in quarterback Dak Prescott. The two have a good relationship, and according to people in and around the team, Prescott likes Schottenheimer\u2019s creativity,\u201d Archer\u00a0said<\/a>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Archer went on to report that Schottenheimer had a say in changing up some of the offensive schemes that allowed the Cowboys to go on a run in the 2023 NFL season.<\/p>\n
