There has been talk he could reach $700 million in free agency. However, former MLB catcher and analyst Erik Krazt of Foul Territory predicts Soto will sign a 14-year $602 million deal.<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-youtube-com\">https:\/\/youtu.be\/iNEVq35dPso?t=1<\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"c-content entry-content\">\n<p>\u201cAnd, Juan Soto, 14 years, $602 million,\u201d Kratz\u00a0said in his prediction.<\/p>\n<p>$602 million over 14 years would be an AAV of 43 million, which would also fall short of the record for the highest annual salary in MLB history. It\u00a0has been reported by The Athletic that Scott Boras, Soto\u2019s agent is looking to break the highest AAV record.<\/p>\n<p>Soto hit\u00a0.288 with\u00a041 home runs and 109 RBIs in 157 games\u00a0with the Yankees in 2024. In the playoffs, he hit .327 with 4 home runs and 9 RBIs.<\/p>\n<h2>Which Teams Are Interested in Soto?<\/h2>\n<p>The Yankees and\u00a0New York Mets\u00a0are considered to be the front runners to sign Soto in free agency.<\/p>\n<p>Along with Soto, the\u00a0Toronto Blue Jays,\u00a0Boston Red Sox, and\u00a0Los Angeles Dodgers have met with Boras in California to discuss the potential contract. There are other mystery teams also involved in the sweepstakes, but the expectation is that Soto signs with the Yankees or Mets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s the Yankees or the Mets,\u201d one American League executive\u00a0said to MLB.com. \u201cHe knows the Yankees well after spending a year there. And, Steve Cohen has enough money to give him whatever he wants if he decides he wants him badly enough. It\u2019s tough for me to see Soto winding up anywhere else.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, one executive told MLB.com\u2019s Mark Feinsand that winning is what matters. Although Soto wants to get paid, he knows he will get paid no matter where he signs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s going to commit to a team for at least a decade, so that\u2019s not surprising,\u201d an American League executive said. \u201cEven if there\u2019s an opt-out in the contract, you\u2019re probably looking at the next four or five years. He\u2019s going to get paid no matter where he goes, so if he can feel good about his chances of winning, that\u2019s going to make a big difference.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Soto won a World Series with the\u00a0Washington Nationals in 2019.<\/p>\n<h2>Yankees Will Do Everything to Re-Sign Soto<\/h2>\n<p>The Yankees traded for Soto before the 2024 season and he was a key part of their roster.<\/p>\n<p>General manager Brian Cashman says he will do everything in his power to re-sign Soto.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had a conversation with (agent) Scott Boras yesterday,\u201d Cashman\u00a0said\u2026 \u201cWe certainly have an interest in retaining him and we\u2019ll put our best foot forward there. But at the same time, that\u2019ll either lead to us retaining him and signing him back. Or we\u2019ll be forced to go in a different direction if we can\u2019t. If we can\u2019t, there\u2019s a lot of different players in this marketplace that can positively impact this roster.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>How much money the Yankees plan to offer Soto is uncertain.
