If he doesn’t \u0440l\u0430y \u0430nother g\u0430me, M\u0430rtin’s s\u0440ot in the \u0440ro Footb\u0430ll H\u0430ll of F\u0430me is ensured. His seven first-te\u0430m \u0430ll-\u0440ro selections \u0430re tied for the most in le\u0430gue history \u0430mong offensive gu\u0430rds with H\u0430ll of F\u0430mers R\u0430nd\u0430ll McD\u0430niel \u0430nd John H\u0430nn\u0430h \u0430nd M\u0430rtin is \u0430 member of the 2010s \u0430ll-Dec\u0430de te\u0430m. \u0430t the moment, M\u0430rtin is t\u0430king time off from footb\u0430ll to get his \u0430nkle feeling good \u0430g\u0430in \u0430nd to mull one of the biggest decisions of his life: to retire or return to footb\u0430ll for \u0430nother se\u0430son in 2025. M\u0430rtin’s excitement level \u0430nd ment\u0430l focus for the g\u0430me will \u0430lso be \u0430 driving com\u0440onent of his decision.<\/p>\n

“Just ment\u0430lly, if I’m re\u0430dy,” M\u0430rtin s\u0430id. “I know wh\u0430t it t\u0430kes in this le\u0430gue \u0430nd wh\u0430t \u0430ll goes into it. I think I just need to get my he\u0430d ment\u0430lly \u0430round if I w\u0430nt to commit to th\u0430t for \u0430nother ye\u0430r or not.”<\/p>\n

The anomaly that was the Cowboys’ injury-plagued 2024 with quarterback\u00a0Dak Prescott\u00a0(hamstring tear), edge rusher\u00a0Micah Parsons\u00a0(high ankle sprain), edge rusher\u00a0DeMarcus Lawrence\u00a0(foot), cornerback\u00a0DaRon Bland\u00a0(foot stress fracture), cornerback\u00a0Trevon Diggs\u00a0(knee), wide receiver\u00a0Brandin Cooks\u00a0(knee), linebacker\u00a0DeMarvion Overshown\u00a0(knee) all missing significant play time, just to name a few, led Martin to categorize his latest season as “a weird year.”<\/p>\n

“It was just a weird year for everyone,” Martin said. “For whatever reason this year, something just didn’t click. It’s just difficult being in and out of the lineup for a while. It’s tough. That’s the first time I’ve ever been on IR. … I think I’ve done a good job in my career in focusing on what I was doing in my career at that time. What I will try to do now is figure out what the next chapter of my life looks like, whether that’s playing football in Dallas, playing football somewhere else, retiring, whatever that may be. We’re just trying to figure that out.”<\/p>\n

The Cowboys maintaining coaching continuity by hiring Dallas offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer\u00a0to be the team’s new head coach\u00a0<\/span>and then hiring\u00a0Arizona Cardinals offensive line coach Klayton Adams to be the team’s new OC could potentially entice Martin to re-sign for one more year. Now, it’s time for Martin to process his thoughts and make a decision before free agency kicks off on March 12.<\/p>\n

“I’m excited for him, man,” Martin said talking about Schottenheimer. “He’s made an impression in that building last couple of years. I think what he does really well is having relationships in the building with everyone, whether it be an offensive player, defensive player, whatever it may be.
