The\u00a0Boston Red Sox<\/a>\u00a0had a rather disappointing season in 2024 and sadly, in the process, lost a pair of their starting pitchers, Garrett Whitlock and Lucas Giolito, to season-ending surgery.<\/p>\n

Ironically, both pitchers suffered the same injury, a second bout with ulnar collateral ligament damage in their throwing arm. Both underwent an internal brace procedure to repair it.<\/p>\n

This surgery is known to have a shorter time of recovery than a Tommy John procedure, and this could prove to be true by both Whitlock and Giolito.<\/p>\n

In a recent report by\u00a0MLB.com’s Ian Brown<\/a>, Whitlock said he expects to have a “regular” Spring Training.<\/p>\n

This comes after nine months of his season-ending surgery.<\/p>\n

Whitlock will be coming out of the bullpen in Spring Training, as Garrett Crochet, Walker Buehler, and Patrick Sandoval will be starting.<\/p>\n
