The spotlight was shone on the relationship between\u00a0Patrick Mahomes<\/span>\u00a0and Tommy Tuberville – or lack thereof – this week.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, President\u00a0Donald Trump<\/span>\u00a0first\u00a0linked the two when he erroneously claimed\u00a0<\/span>that the Republican Senator had coached the\u00a0Kansas<\/span>\u00a0City Chiefs quarterback during his time at Texas Tech – despite the pair never crossing paths at the college.<\/p>\n

The confusion escalated Thursday when Tuberville, the Senator from\u00a0Alabama<\/span>, appeared to back up Trump’s claim.<\/p>\n

While he confessed that he had never coached the three-time\u00a0Super Bowl<\/span>\u00a0winner, Tuberville did claim credit for recruiting to the program.<\/p>\n

‘What happened is I recruited him, and then I left and went to another school, but I got to be very good friends with him,’ Tuberville said during an appearance on The\u00a0Megyn Kelly<\/span>\u00a0Show.<\/p>\n

‘He’s not just a good athlete, he’s a very good example for a lot of our young youth across this country.’<\/p>\n
