Novak Djokovic celebrates his win over Carlos Alcaraz<\/p>\n

Novak Djokovic has discussed his quest to win his 100th career singles title and his hopes of securing a record-extending 25th Grand Slam.<\/p>\n

The 37-year-old tennis great has been aiming to reach a century of trophies since he won his 99th singles title at the Paris Olympics in August last year.<\/p>\n

Jimmy Connors holds the record for ATP singles titles with 109, while Djokovic\u2019s rival Roger Federer is the only other man to reach 100, having won\u00a0103.<\/p>\n

Djokovic\u2018s historic gold medal triumph, which saw him become the first man to win every big title in the sport, was the only title he won in 2024.<\/p>\n

The Serbian was also a runner-up on two occasions last year, losing to Carlos Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final and Jannik Sinner in the Shanghai Masters title match.<\/p>\n

In his first tournament of 2025, Djokovic lost to Reilly Opelka in the Brisbane International quarter-finals.<\/p>\n

The world No 7 then reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open and was forced to retire after the first set of his clash with Alexander Zverev due to a hamstring tear. He sustained the injury during his sublime four-set quarter-final win over Carlos Alcaraz.<\/p>\n

Djokovic\u00a0won his most recent Grand Slam title at the 2023 US Open \u2014 his third major in an outstanding season.<\/p>\n

Speaking in an interview with\u00a0Vijesti, Djokovic spoke about his goals of reaching these two milestones as he outlined what he proved by beating Alcaraz at a Grand Slam.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope that the 100th trophy can come to Doha right now, I\u2019ve been chasing it for a long time, since October of last year, but about then \u2013 it will come when it should come. Thank God, I know it will come, we\u2019ll see when and where,\u201d Djokovic said (translated from Serbian).<\/p>\n

\u201cAs for the Grand Slam, it\u2019s a bigger challenge, a more difficult undertaking, but I believe I can \u2013 if I didn\u2019t believe I could compete at that level with the best tennis players in the world, I wouldn\u2019t be competing any further.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think I proved with the victory against Alcaraz at the Australian Open that I can still compete for the biggest trophies.\u201d<\/p>\n

The former world No 1 is set to return from his injury at the Qatar Open ATP 500 tournament, which will begin on February 17.<\/p>\n
