The 22-time Grand Slam winner launched the Rafa Nadal Academy in 2016 as a way to “give something back” to the sport.<\/p>\n

Rafael Nadal continues to expand his off-court projects and business ventures, and now he\u2019s set for a massive pay day after reports have emerged that he\u2019s sold off part of his stake in his eponymous tennis academy.<\/p>\n

The Rafael Nadal Academy was launched back in 2016 as a part of the Manacor-born tennis star\u2019s vision to \u201cgive something back\u201d to the sport by forming the next generation of champions in his hometown.<\/p>\n

The Academy has undergone multiple expansions since then, including the addition of an on-site hotel\u2014which controversially required\u00a0a<\/a>n amendment to Balearic housing laws\u00a0in order to receive approval\u2014and has now become one of Spain\u2019s largest sporting facilities.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had a very interesting conversation about a word that I think is very important: legacy,\u201d Nadal said at\u00a0a recent Academy graduation ceremony<\/a>, recalling a moment with fellow tennis great Roger Federer. \u201cHow would we like to be remembered in a few years? How do we want the future generations to think of us?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
