BREAKING: NFL rescinds 2 Chiefs-related fines totaling $50,000.<\/h1>\n

As fans and readers know by now, the\u00a0Kansas City Chiefs\u00a0were the subject of an\u00a0NFL\u00a0conspiracy theory in 2024 \u2014 as opposing fans\u00a0accused referees of rigging games\u00a0in their favor in order to help them advance to the\u00a0Super Bowl.<\/p>\n

At times, the league\u2019s somewhat sensitive approach to dealing with this storyline\u00a0only strengthened the narrative. For example, when the NFL\u00a0fined Houston Texans stars Joe Mixon and Will Anderson Jr.\u00a0for postgame comments that were thought to be critical of the officiating following the Divisional Round of the playoffs, fans were not happy.<\/p>\n

And neither were Mixon and Anderson, who made it clear that they would be appealing the $25,000 fines.<\/p>\n

\"NFL:<\/p>\n

On February 18, those fines were officially overturned and rescinded, per multiple sources including\u00a0KPRC 2 NFL insider Aaron Wilson,\u00a0ESPN Texans reporter DJ Bien-Aime\u00a0and\u00a0NFL insider Dianna Russini (The Athletic).<\/p>\n

\u201cBoth\u00a0Joe Mixon\u00a0and\u00a0Will Anderson\u00a0win their appeals of a $25K fine for criticizing officiating after the Texans\u2019 playoff loss to the Chiefs, per source,\u201d Russini reported on X.<\/p>\n

Wilson and Bien-Aime also shared a screenshot of Mixon\u2019s official letter from NFL hearing officer Chris Palmer, which read:<\/p>\n

During the appeal hearing, you stated what you meant by your statements referring to the officials. As you know, statements can be interpreted differently by every individual and it seems like you clearly understand the weight and detriment of public criticism towards officials can be, given how impactful your platform is as a player, which I appreciate.<\/p>\n

Integrity of the game and its officials is the responsibility of everyone involved in the NFL. After reviewing the totality of the evidence. I find that you did not necessarily publicly criticize the officials. Accordingly for the reasons set forth above, the NFL will rescind the $25,000 fine amount.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Reviewing Comments of Texans\u2019 Joe Mixon & Will Anderson Jr. Following Chiefs Playoff Matchup<\/h2>\n

Anderson\u2019s comments were a little more obvious than Mixon\u2019s, but apparently the rising star edge rusher received his money back too \u2014 adding up to $50,000 in overturned fines.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe knew it was going to be us versus the refs going into this game,\u201d\u00a0Anderson told reporters\u00a0while speaking at his locker on January 18 after the Texans fell to the Chiefs.<\/p>\n

Mixon hinted at something similar, but did not go quite as far.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverybody know how it is, playing up here [at Arrowhead Stadium],\u201d the veteran running back\u00a0said on January 18. \u201cYou can never leave it into the refs\u2019 hands. But, I mean, the whole world see what it is, bro. It is what it is\u2026 It\u2019s all good, though.\u201d<\/p>\n

Later, Mixon was also publicly critical of the NFL\u2019s decision to fine him, especially since they initially stated that they penalized him for a social media post\u00a0from former NFL wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m getting fined by the @nfl for what someone else said,\u201d\u00a0Mixon wrote on X\u00a0at the time. \u201cWhat\u2019s next? I get fined by them for Connor McDavid cross checking an opponent [in] a @nhl game!\u00a0\"\ud83e\udd26\ud83c\udffd\u200d\u2642\ufe0f\"\u201d<\/p>\n

Continuing in a\u00a0follow-up post: \u201cSo let me get this straight NFL fines me 25k for something I didn\u2019t even say. Call them out for it, and they response was fine me AGAIN for something that\u2019s not even a violation without even rescinding the first one. Where\u2019s the accountability?
