<\/div>\n<\/div>Travis Kelce\u00a0may be sticking with the Kansas City Chiefs for another season.<\/p>\n
On Wednesday, Feb. 19,\u00a0 NFL reporter and insider for The Athletic, Dianna Russini, appeared on\u00a0The Rich Eisen Show\u00a0<\/em>and reported that the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 35, is \u201cleaning\u201d toward playing another season with his team.<\/p>\n This news comes after\u00a0The Athletic\u00a0<\/em>reported on Thursday, Feb. 13 that Kelce would have to\u00a0decide whether or not he retires\u00a0from the NFL by March 14 following his\u00a0Super Bowl defeat\u00a0against the Philadelphia Eagles.<\/p>\n \u201cI can just tell you from just having a few conversations with people around the league over the last few days there\u2019s definitely a sense that Travis is going to try to play more,\u201d Russini, 42, said. \u201cI haven\u2019t heard anyone say, \u2018Yeah, he\u2019s really struggling with what he wants to do,\u2019 it\u2019s definitely leaning more toward that.\u201d<\/p>\n Travis Kelce during the first half of Super Bowl LIX at Caesars Superdome on February 9, 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n Kevin Sabitus\/Getty<\/p>\n She added, \u201cThat can, of course, change. This is going to be his decision, his decision only, but for this Chiefs\u2019 operation looking to move forward here, I think they feel pretty good that Travis has got a little bit more left in him.\u201d<\/p>\n Russini said that Kelce takes good care of his body and trained hard at the start of the latest season.<\/p>\n \u201cSomeone there shared a story with me just a few days before they opened up to start this season,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was a Monday night, people trying to get out of the building, it was like 8:30 at night and the lights in the area where the guys do the band work, just small muscle, there\u2019s Travis in there working,\u201d the journalist continued.<\/p>\n Russini added that despite his spotlight outside of sports, \u201che does balance it all, he takes care of his body really well.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cTravis does it behind closed doors,\u201d she said. \u201cHe does what he needs to do to keep up with that maintenance.\u201d<\/p>\n In the days since Kelce and the\u00a0Chiefs lost 40-22\u00a0to the Eagles in the 2025 Super Bowl, he’s shared his frustration with how the game went.\u00a0Speaking about the loss on his\u00a0New Heights with Jason & Travis Kelce<\/em>\u00a0podcast\u00a0on Wedneday, Feb. 12, the star said,\u00a0“It just wasn’t our day.\u201d<\/p>\n “I couldn’t find a lick of momentum. I’m kicking myself for some of the tiny, tiny decisions I made on the field,\u201d he continued. “I wasn’t the best leader that I could be in motivating my guys and keeping my guys calm, cool, collected.\u201d<\/p>\n “I put a lot of that on myself as the guy that’s been in the building for 12 years and seen a lot of football and actually seen a situation just like this in the Super Bowl,” he said.<\/p>\n He added, “It’s a tough pill to swallow. It’s a hard reality, man. I love my teammates, I love my coaches.
