Just over a year ago, former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce\u00a0announced his retirement from the NFL. Kelce\u2019s little brother, Travis, could follow in his footsteps this offseason as the Kansas City Chiefs star continues to mull his murky future in the league.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, the Chiefs gave Travis Kelce a soft deadline\u00a0of around March 14\u00a0to inform them of his plans\u2014whether that\u2019s sticking it out for one more year or hanging up his cleats for good. The 35-year-old Kelce is coming off a disheartening Super Bowl LIX loss but undeniably built a special career in Kansas City, setting\u00a0several franchise records\u00a0during his 12-year tenure.<\/p>\n

Ahead of the Chiefs tight end\u2019s big decision, Jason spoke to Charles Barkley and Ernie Johnson on\u00a0The Steam Room<\/em>\u00a0podcast about how he\u2019s helped his brother navigate the uncertainty of his playing future.<\/p>\n

Jason said he\u2019s already talked to Travis about his retirement decision \u201ca little bit\u201d and noted how the two of them were alike\u2014but also different\u2014in many ways.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re similar people, but we also have different ways of thinking about things,\u201d Jason said. \u201cSometimes I can way overanalyze situations, and my brother has this way of being like, \u2018Hey man, you want to play or you don\u2019t want to play.\u2019 He\u2019ll say something like that where it\u2019s just like don\u2019t worry about all these minor things. And nine times out of ten, he\u2019s right about all of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo are you choosing this point here to announce what your brother is doing?\u201d Johnson then asked Jason.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m way over-analyzing his decision for him,\u201d Jason said. \u201cI\u2019m like, \u2018Alright well if you do this, you can do that, and if you do that you can do this.\u2019 I think Trav\u2014he probably already knows in his heart what he wants to do. That\u2019s the reality of it.\u201d<\/p>\n
