Dalton Rushing is fine with waiting. It\u2019s not that he doesn\u2019t want to make his big league debut; he would just prefer to have a larger role when it comes to helping the team win.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI know that I\u2019ll get to play with these guys at some point throughout this year,\u201d\u00a0Rushing said.\u00a0\u201cMy only goal is \u2026 [to] win the last game. It\u2019s an easy goal to go by in this clubhouse. That\u2019s the standard year in, year out. That\u2019s what I love most about this organization. You shoot for the highest star.\u201d<\/p>\n

The standard that has been set in the Los Angeles Dodgers clubhouse starts with manager\u00a0Dave Roberts, a leader who Rushing can\u2019t wait to play for.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve got to speak to him a handful of times, I got to spend a little bit of time with him during the postseason last year,\u201d\u00a0Rushing told Dodgers Nation\u2019s Doug McKain. \u201cI think that was the coolest time. I got to play scrimmages, taxi squad grouping, all that stuff. It was cool to just be around those guys around that time of the year. the cool things that are going on in their lives, I\u2019m getting to be a small little piece of which is pretty cool.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had a few converstions with him and I really admire his desire to win. I admire his fire that\u2019s deep deep in but you don\u2019t really see it like you do in some managers in baseball and he doesn\u2019t really express it as much but when he does, I feel like the message gets across a little more. From the outside-looking-in it\u2019s very exciting to play for a guy like him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Some believe Rushing could play in majors now, but where would he play?<\/p>\n

Rushing is blocked by two-time All-Star\u00a0Will Smith behind the plate and he lacks experience everywhere else.<\/p>\n

Therefore, he is preparing to be a backup to Smith for whenever his number is called and his hard work hasn\u2019t gone unnoticed.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s doing whatever is asked of him,\u201d\u00a0Roberts said. \u201cYou can tell he\u2019s very observant. He\u2019s watching a lot, as he should. He\u2019s listening to conversations, he\u2019s talking to pitchers, getting to build that relationship with pitchers. He\u2019s really growing quickly.\u201d<\/p>\n
