FRISCO \u2013\u00a0The\u00a0<\/a>Dallas Cowboys\u00a0have come up short in their \u201cdraft and develop\u201d plan at wide receiver outside of their rousing success with All-Pro pass-catcher\u00a0CeeDee Lamb.<\/p>\n

Maybe it\u2019s time for Jerry Jones to go \u201cwild-cattin\u201d his way to a short cut to talent.<\/p>\n

The Dallas front office has lost most of its goodwill with Cowboys Nation, and while no\u00a0NFL\u00a0team should make a move strictly due to the audience\u2019s disgruntlement \u2026<\/p>\n

The quickest \u201csplash\u201d way to gain some credibility might also match the quickest \u201csplash\u201d way to improving the roster.<\/p>\n

Which leads us to a series of rumors involving name receivers who might be on the move this offseason.<\/p>\n

Cooper Kupp, Davante Adams and\u00a0Deebo Samuel\u00a0are among the names being bandied about in ways that are more than just rumor.<\/p>\n

But there is also gossip \u2013 up until Friday nothing substantiated as more than that outside of FOX\u2019s Jay Glazer sort of loosely saying Seattle might listen if offered a massive deal \u2013 in\u00a0the form of the freakishly athletic\u00a0Seattle Seahawks\u00a0receiver D.K. Metcalf.<\/p>\n

It is possible that the Seahawks are simply ready to turn the page on Metcalf, who has one year and $32 million remaining on his deal, while featuring Jaxon Smith-Njigba as the No. 1 guy.<\/p>\n

And along with that number would likely come Metcalf\u2019s request for an extension \u2013 a reasonable thought as he\u2019s still only 27 years old. (He\u2019s presently got a $31.8 million cap hit for 2025 \u2026 so a reworking would seen necessary.)<\/p>\n

One report out of Green Bay suggests that the Packers are working on a trade with Seattle that would send out their\u00a0No. 23 overall pick and either Romeo Doubs or Dontayvion Wicks in exchange for Metcalf.<\/p>\n

From a Dallas perspective? If this is a viable idea for the Packers \u2026 why can\u2019t it be a viable idea for the Cowboys?<\/p>\n

This sort of trade would give Dak Prescott one of the league\u2019s best receiver duos in CeeDee Lamb and Metcalf. \u2026 and it would also reunite D.K. with his first coordinator, Brian Schottenheimer, who now happens to be the head coach in Dallas.<\/p>\n

There is no set trade price here to go along with the gossip; we\u2019d suggest there is no way Dallas would trade its No. 12 overall pick for Metcalf, seeing the better wisdom in simply using that selection to add \u201cthe next D.K.\u201d \u2026 or somebody akin to that.<\/p>\n
