Shohei Ohtani\u00a0is headed to\u00a0Fortnite. The Los Angeles\u00a0Dodgers two-way superstar will be the first Major League Baseball player to get his own custom skin as part of a partnership between the video game franchise and MLB.<\/p>\n

Ohtani fans will have a choice between which skins to choose from. The game features three versions of Ohtani in his Dodgers jersey \u2014 home whites, road grays and LEGO style for LEGO Fortnite \u2014 and a special Ohtani samurai version.<\/p>\n

The league posted a video via X on Monday\u00a0to celebrate the occasion\u00a0and get fans excited. Naturally, the comments ranged from elation to snark, with just about everything in between.<\/p>\n

\u201cSold take my money, where\u2019s Freddie Freeman?\u201d wrote one fan,\u00a0who also asked for\u00a0the\u00a02024 World Series MVP.<\/p>\n

But as has become standard on social media, some users can’t help but\u00a0bring up controversy. In this case, the gambling scandal that surrounded Ohtani last year<\/p>\n

\u201cCan’t wait to pair the Shohei skin with my other gambling gear,\u201d another fan said. \u201cMaybe I will hit legendaries in every chest.\u201d<\/p>\n

Others pointed to the bizarre $700 million contract that the Dodgers signed him to, in which\u00a0most of the money is deferred\u00a0to after Ohtani’s retirement.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo you can defer wins in Fortnite now?\u201d one fan chimed in.<\/p>\n

Some fans pointed to baseball’s infamous record for not marketing its superstars, including one\u00a0who cracked a joke\u00a0about the new audience that Ohtani will now have.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can hear it now \u2018ITS THE BASEBALL PLAYER FROM FORTNITE!!!’\u201d they joked.<\/p>\n

Then there’s one Giants fan who said\u00a0what absolutely no one\u00a0was thinking.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhere\u2019s Mike Yastrzemski?\u201d they asked. \u201cWe will not be playing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani is bringing his dog Decoy to Fortnight<\/strong><\/h2>\n

If Ohtani is the most famous baseball player in the world, his dog, Decoy, might be the most famous baseball dog. And so of course Fortnite is including him in the fun.<\/p>\n

It makes sense, as Decoy has joined Ohtani throughout all the big moments of his career, including his MVP announcement in 2023\u00a0and the Dodgers’ 2024 World Series parade.<\/p>\n
