Kansas City Chiefs\u00a0star Xavier Worthy is not yet facing charges after a woman accused him of assault, but a judge in Texas has made a decision in favor of the wide receiver’s accuser.<\/p>\n

Worthy was arrested on March 7 and held in Texas and held in jail on a charge of assault on a family or household member before ultimately being released.\u00a0Williamson County District Attorney Shawn Dick said his office spoke with the accuser and was not pursuing charges against Worthy at the time.<\/p>\n

But as Dave Skretta of The Associated Press\u00a0reported, a Texas judge did grant the accuser a protective order against Worthy on March 12. Attorneys for Tia Jones told the outlet that she was \u201cfully cooperating with law enforcement as they continue to actively investigate the violence that occurred.\u201d<\/p>\n

The statement also insinuated that Worthy could still face justice regarding the allegations.<\/p>\n

\u201cMs. Jones has chosen to use her voice to speak up for herself,\u201d said Angelica Cogliano, a member of the legal team representing Jones. \u201cIn doing so, she looks forward to the facts and circumstances of that night coming to light through the formal legal process, and getting the justice that she deserves.\u201d<\/p>\n

Worthy released a statement through his lawyers saying he is innocent of all charges. The statement said the accuser had been asked to leave Worthy’s home\u00a0\u201cupon discovery of her infidelity,” but she “refused to vacate the residence and made a number of extortive efforts prior to resorting to this baseless allegation against Mr. Worthy.”<\/p>\n

The Chiefs issued a statement following Worthy’s arrest saying they were “aware of the situation and still gathering information.”<\/p>\n

Worthy is coming off a strong rookie season with the Chiefs, making\u00a059 catches for 638 yards with six touchdowns.<\/p>\n
