The\u00a0Boston Red Sox\u00a0gave their faithful a reason to get excited this offseason by making the necessary moves to address what they needed. This included sending multiple top prospects to the Chicago White Sox in return for ace Garrett Crochet, who is coming off his best season as a pro.<\/p>\n

Crochet is everything the Red Sox needed, as he is a flamethrowing southpaw that can reach 100 MPH on any given pitch and has a wipeout sweeper. The contract situation is a little bit dicey for the Red Sox as he still has two years left on his contract, but many are calling for an extension to get done ASAP.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Athletic’s Tim Britton\u00a0highlighted in an “Extension Week” piece that the Red Sox and Crochet “need to get a deal done now”. He also projected that the Boston ace could receive a contract worth up to five years and $110 million.<\/p>\n

Crochet struck out 209 batters in 2024 over 146 innings and pitched to a 3.58 ERA. He was also awarded his first All-Star appearance in his career. The 25-year-old should also be eager to get a deal done as he’s coming off a career year and has battled some injuries throughout some seasons. He missed all of 2022 dealing with injury, which could also lead Boston’s front office to be a little hesitant in signing him long-term.<\/p>\n
