The\u00a0T<\/a>ua Tagovailoa\u00a0era in Miami could be coming sooner rather than later.<\/p>\n

During the final push for the 2024 playoffs,\u00a0Miami Dolphins\u00a0starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa stood on the sidelines.<\/p>\n

It has become an all-too-familiar scene with Tua over the years due to various injuries he has obtained on the field of play.<\/p>\n

The Dolphins handed Tagovailoa the largest contract in team history only months after he had finished his first and only complete\u00a0NFL\u00a0season.<\/p>\n

In July 2024, the Dolphins handed him a four-year, $212.4 million extension.<\/p>\n

The team had a chance to make some moves this offseason if they decided to do what a lot of other teams have done, and that is restructure the contracts of their star players.<\/p>\n

The Dolphins could have saved $19M in cap space this year if they had done that with Tua Tagovailoa. That\u2019s a significant amount of money for a football team in desperate need of cash flow. I<\/p>\n

They curiously chose not to.<\/p>\n

So, why haven\u2019t the Dolphins gained the money they can get now if Tua is the future of the franchise?<\/p>\n

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald alluded to the fact that Tua isn\u2019t guaranteed to be the long-term solution at quarterback.<\/p>\n
