Reports out of Baltimore are indicating the Baltimore Ravens might bring in Asante Samuel, Jr. for a visit and see if they can work out a deal. Samuel is the son of Asante Samuel, Sr., a former Super Bowl champion.<\/p>\n

The younger Samuel played for the Los Angeles Chargers for the last four years after being drafted in the second round in 2021 from Florida State University.<\/p>\n

The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec\u00a0believes could be a good fit in the Ravens secondary.<\/p>\n

“There just isn\u2019t a lot left on the free-agent cornerback market, and the Ravens\u2019 depth chart at the position suggests they need to look at everything,” Zrebiec wrote. “Samuel played just four games last year because of a bad shoulder. He\u2019s an undersized corner (5-foot-10, 180 pounds), and tackling isn\u2019t his strength.”<\/p>\n

Samuel is a good cover corner and created a lot of turnovers. He is what the Ravens need in their backfield.<\/p>\n

“But he has strong coverage skills and gets his hands on a ton of footballs. In his first three NFL seasons, he totaled six interceptions and 35 pass breakups,” Zrebievc said. “That\u2019s a lot of ball production.”<\/p>\n

Samuel had a solid first three seasons in L.A. He started 43 of the 46 games he appeared in. He was extremely solid in pass coverage, which has never been a problem for him.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, he sustained a shoulder injury which derailed his 2024 season and made him expendable to the Chargers.<\/p>\n

Samuel is still just 25 years old and has shown potential at the NFL level. He’s one of the better free agent cornerbacks still available, and could\u00a0command a good pay day\u00a0even this late in free agency.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
