According to an NFL insider, the former New York Jets quarterback might retire instead of signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers.<\/div>\n

It seems as though the terms have been agreed to between\u00a0Aaron Rodgers\u00a0and the\u00a0Pittsburgh Steelers\u00a0and are not at issue.<\/p>\n

What remains at issue is whether Rodgers wants to accept the Steelers’ terms, wait for the\u00a0Minnesota Vikings, or drift off into retirement.<\/p>\n

On “The Jim Rome Show” Thursday,\u00a0NFL\u00a0Network’s Tom Pelissero said the terms of a proposed contract have been worked out between the parties.<\/p>\n

“They’ve discussed parameters. This is not going to be a financial issue at all for Aaron Rodgers,” Pelissero\u00a0told Rome. “If it gets done, it’s going to be a one-year deal.”<\/p>\n

Pelissero said the line of communication between Rodgers and the Steelers remains open. The parties have had healthy dialogue over the recent days and are in a holding pattern.<\/p>\n

Pelissero believes that Rodgers’ only options are to sign with Pittsburgh or wait on the Vikings, who do not appear in any hurry to sign the aging veteran.<\/p>\n

“Aaron’s choices right now are going to the Steelers…or you sit back and you say I’m not ready to make a decision now and maybe you see whether it’s Minnesota or something else might shake out of a tree,” Pelissero said.<\/p>\n

So the contract offer is done.<\/p>\n

What bad news is there to worry about?<\/p>\n

Interestingly, ESPN’s Adam Schefter said this week there is a chance Rodgers could scrap it all and just retire.<\/p>\n

“Well the Pittsburgh Steelers know what it\u2019s like to be Aaron Rodgers, because they\u2019re in the dark right now about what he\u2019s going to do. And there are a lot of people around the league who wonder if Aaron Rodgers is even going to play,”\u00a0Schefter said, via On3.\u00a0“We have not heard from Aaron Rodgers himself to know one way or another.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
