Patrick Mahomes<\/span>,\u00a0Travis Kelce<\/span>\u00a0and Co. have played on December 25 for each of the past seasons.<\/p>\n

Now, according to\u00a0The Athletic, the Chiefs have told the NFL they want the holiday game to become a staple part of their regular season.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Detroit Lions<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0Dallas Cowboys<\/span>\u00a0currently enjoy a similar tradition, playing on\u00a0Thanksgiving<\/span>\u00a0every year.<\/p>\n

It would disrupt the plans of\u00a0Andy Reid<\/span>‘s players, however. The likes of Mahomes have young families, while Kelce typically enjoys spending the holiday period with his\u00a0girlfriend\u00a0Taylor Swift<\/span>.<\/p>\n

The pop star was in the stands – wearing a customized Kelce Santa hat – for the Chiefs’ Christmas Day loss to the Raiders in 2023.<\/p>\n

Last year, meanwhile, Kelce helped Kansas City beat the Pittsburgh Steelers on December 25 – just days before the couple enjoyed a date night in New York City.<\/p>\n

There are slated to be three games on Christmas Day as part of the 2025 regular season, according to reports.<\/p>\n

Two of those games will be streamed on\u00a0Netflix<\/span>, with the third being broadcast on Amazon Prime. The Chiefs are again expected to be among the teams on the slate.<\/p>\n

Back in 2023, Kansas City was beaten 20-14 at Arrowhead by the Raiders in a loss that threatened to derail their bid for back-to-back Super Bowl crowns.<\/p>\n
