According to reports from ESPN\u2019s Michael Rothstein, Lamar took issue with Troy using\u00a0<em>\u201ceight\u201d\u00a0<\/em>on his merchandise. He claimed that it could confuse fans about which quarterback the products are really linked to.<\/p>\n<p>Lamar filed his complaint on July 9 against a company called FL101, where Aikman is a director. He holds trademarks like\u00a0<em>\u201cEra 8\u201d\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0<em>\u201cYou 8 yet?\u201d<\/em>\u00a0to capitalize on that.<\/p>\n<p>Christine Farley, an intellectual property law professor, weighed in on this unusual dispute. He noted that you can actually trademark many things, including numbers.
