FRISCO \u2014 The\u00a0Dallas Cowboys\u00a0had been looking to revamp their\u00a0quarterback\u00a0depth for over a month. Following hints at various stages of the offseason, the Cowboys finally made their move this week.<\/p>\n

Thursday morning, Dallas traded for former\u00a0New England Patriots\u00a0quarterback\u00a0Joe Milton, bringing in one of the league’s most intriguing prospects at the position into their locker room.<\/p>\n

Drake Maye cemented himself as the team’s No. 1 quarterback last season and an offseason signing of Josh Dobbs made for a crowded quarterback room from Milton’s perspective. Now, he gets a fresh start in Dallas and the opportunity to grow behind a top 10 passer.<\/p>\n

In the grand scheme, it is a minor move for the Cowboys. Had Milton not come to Dallas, they would have filled the spot with a late-round draft pick or a veteran free agent.<\/p>\n

But out of the sudden move came ridiculous overreaction, none more outlandish than FS1’s LeSean McCoy who interpreted the move as a threat to Dak Prescott.<\/p>\n

“I’ll just be honest man, listen. If Dak Prescott has a postseason like he’s always had going into next year, Dak, find a realtor,” McCoy said. “Because Joe Milton’s got talent, he can play. I’ll say this, y’all laugh and all that, I’ve seen other quarterbacks get paid a lot of money, and they move on from them.”<\/p>\n

His colleagues on\u00a0“The Facility”\u00a0could not be drawn to anything other than laughter. That is because these musings are just babble.<\/p>\n

McCoy, a former\u00a0Philadelphia Eagles\u00a0running back, has been the latest in the modern world of hot-take sports media who has hitched the bandwagon of misrepresentation when it comes to the Cowboys.<\/p>\n

Nothing about the trade suggests any threat to Prescott’s claim as the starter, especially with the massive contract extension he signed back in September still front of mind.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately for McCoy, Prescott’s job remains safe with the 2025 season looming ahead. When Milton takes the field and potentially impresses in the preseason, this drama may stir again.<\/p>\n

Regardless, McCoy’s comments were designed to take away from what was finally a positive move from the Cowboys’ perspective.
