The\u00a0Dodgers\u00a0have filled their coaching vacancy.<\/p>\n

On Friday night, the team announced it had hired\u00a0Chris Woodward\u00a0to be its first base coach, bringing him back for his second stint on\u00a0Dave Roberts\u2019 staff.<\/p>\n

Woodward served as the Dodgers\u2019 third base coach from 2016 to 2018 before being hired as the Texas Rangers\u2019 manager. After posting a 211-287 record in four seasons with the Rangers, who fired him at the end of 2022, Woodward returned to the Dodgers as a senior advisor in their player development department and worked with both the Dodgers and their farm system, particularly with infielders throughout the organization.<\/p>\n

In his new role, Woodward will take over as the Dodgers\u2019 infield and base-running coach. Third base coach\u00a0Dino Ebel, who used to oversee the infield, will take over outfield coaching responsibilities.<\/p>\n

Woodward replaces former first base coach Clayton McCullough, who was\u00a0hired as the Miami Marlins\u2019 manager\u00a0last week.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are thrilled to have Chris Woodward back on the coaching staff,\u201d general manager Brandon Gomes said in a statement. \u201cHe has been a staple to this organization, helping us to back-to-back NL pennants and was a key cog to our success last season. Chris will be an invaluable part to the team moving forward.\u201d<\/p>\n
