The Miami Dolphins have major questions surrounding their roster, and could be moving on from multiple veteran players. All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey is likely on the move, just a year removed from a contract extension.<\/p>\n

This trade idea sends Dolphins Pro-Bowl tight end, Jonnu Smith, to the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for pick\u00a0 182 in the 2025 NFL Draft. The 182nd pick would fall between the Dolphins’ selections at 155 and 224.<\/p>\n

Jacksonville would be adding a great tight end to complement Brenton Strange after the release of Evan Engram. The Jaguars need an upgrade at tight end, and Smith is coming off a career year with the Dolphins.<\/p>\n

In 2024, Smith had 88 receptions on 111 targets for 884 receiving yards and eight touchdowns, all career highs. He earned his first Pro-Bowl nod in his age-29 season and is in line for a new contract extension.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Smith is under contract for just one more year, as he has a base salary of $3.49 million and a cap hit of $4.64 million in 2025. Smith will be an unrestricted free agent in 2026, and with the Dolphins unlikely to keep him, they could look to move the veteran tight end and recoup some value.<\/p>\n

The trade compensation in this trade idea would not be a lot for the Jaguars to give up, but it would be a key selection for the Dolphins to have. Heading into the draft, the Dolphins have ten selections, but there is a huge gap between their pick in round five and round seven.<\/p>\n

Miami has pick 155, and 69 picks later at 224 in the seventh round is their next selection. Adding a pick in the middle, at pick 182, would be a huge addition for the Dolphins on day three of the draft. It’s more ammo for a potential trade, and it’s also a key pick to bridge the gap between picks in the draft.<\/p>\n

This trade idea has the Dolphins sending their breakout Pro-Bowl tight end, Jonnu Smith, to the Jaguars in exchange for a sixth-round pick. The Dolphins add a solid pick and open the door to selecting a tight end in the draft in a loaded tight end class.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
