It is not easy to judge Novak Djokovic’s season so far. The former world No.1 has had some really brilliant moments \u2013 especially at the Australian Open and Miami Open \u2013 proving that he is still competitive at the highest level, but his consistency over the course of the season is no longer what it used to be.<\/p>\n

His recent second-round loss of the Monte Carlo Masters 1000 exemplifies this concept, as do his troubling statements after being eliminated in straight sets by Alejandro Tabilo. It is no secret that the Serbian legend’s top goal is to try to win another Major title before the end of his career, so as to write yet another page of tennis history.<\/p>\n

Nole aims for the next two Majors<\/h2>\n

The 37-year-old from Belgrade will try to make this dream come true already at Roland Garros in just over a month, using the Mutua Madrid Open and the Rome Masters 1000 as a test to prepare well. However \u2013 according to most analysts \u2013 the Grand Slam tournament in which Nole has the best chance of prevailing is certainly Wimbledon.<\/p>\n

According to former American ace Steve Johnson \u2013 guest on the latest edition of the ‘Nothing Major’ podcast \u2013 Novak must focus all his energy on the Championships.<\/p>\n

“The speech relating to Djokovic is quite simple. From my point of view, he only has a chance at Wimbledon” – explained the former world number 21 with extreme clarity. “I don’t think he can win a two-week tournament on red clay anymore, it’s too tough at his age. The Australian Open and Miami Open have shown us that the Serbian’s level is still high when he is really motivated, but at some point he tends to lack energy and collapse. For this reason, I am convinced that Wimbledon represents his best opportunity,” Johnson concluded.<\/p>\n
