Tight end Mark Andrews has been an incredibly important member of the Baltimore Ravens’ offense over the last few seasons. Andrews has been Lamar Jackson’s favorite target for much of his career, and the duo has become one of the most prolific quarterback-receiver tandems in the NFL.<\/p>\n

Andrews is a three-time Pro Bowler and a former All-Pro, but recent comments from the Ravens’ general manager indicate that the team could be considering a change at tight end.<\/p>\n

\u201cI never know what\u2019s going to happen, and I would never want to say this or that, but I can tell you this: Mark Andrews is a warrior, and he\u2019s played his butt off for us, and his competitiveness, his talent, his attitude, his leadership is so valued here,”\u00a0s<\/a>aid Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta earlier this month.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s a great player, and we\u2019re in the business of keeping as many great players as we can, so there\u2019s always a lot of unpredictability with the draft. You just never know.\u201d<\/p>\n

With the draft just days away, Andrews was asked about DeCosta’s comments. The star tight end says that in his eyes, his relationship with the front office and the organization is in a good place.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know the Ravens and my relationship is incredibly strong and I trust in [DeCosta] and everybody there over at the Ravens,\u201d\u00a0Andrews said, according to ESPN’s Jamison Hensley.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd there\u2019s nothing on my end really to share. For me, it\u2019s just been working hard this offseason and trying to get in the best shape of my life, trying to have the best season of my life coming up and winning a Super Bowl.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Andrews is entering the final year of his current contract. He has a cap hit of nearly $17 million this season, and will be a free agent in 2026. The Ravens could re-sign Andrews to a new deal, but he turns 30 next season.<\/p>\n

Baltimore has the No. 27 overall pick in the first round of this year’s draft. Tight end isn’t an immediate need compared to other positions, but the Ravens could look to get younger with Andrews’ contract set to expire soon.<\/p>\n

We’ll see what the Ravens decide to do as they search for a way to break through to the Super Bowl with Jackson under center as the starting quarterback.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
