The\u00a0Dallas Cowboys\u00a0appear to have decided on what they\u2019ll do with the No. 12 selection in the first round of the 2025\u00a0NFL Draft.<\/p>\n

Following a disappointing 7-10 season that led to the departure of head coach Mike McCarthy, the Cowboys landed the 12th overall pick in this year\u2019s class. It\u2019s just the second time since 2017 that Dallas enters a draft with a top-15 selection, having taken Penn State linebacker Micah Parsons 12th overall in 2021.<\/p>\n

With\u00a0Dak Prescott\u00a0entering his age-32 season and Parsons needing a new contract, the pressure is on Stephen and\u00a0Jerry Jones\u00a0to have a successful draft. Otherwise, calls for changes in Big D will continue to mount.<\/p>\n

According to The Athletic\u2019s Dianna Russini, sources around the league believe the Dallas Cowboys\u00a0will use the No. 12 pick<\/a>\u00a0on an offensive weapon to complement Prescott and superstar wideout CeeDee Lamb:<\/p>\n

\u201cMany sources around the league expect the Cowboys to target an offensive skill position with the No. 12 pick. Texas WR Matthew Golden and Arizona\u2019s Tetairoa McMillan are names that I\u2019m hearing could interest Dallas.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

<\/div>\n

Golden and McMillan are consensus top-three wide receiver prospects in this year\u2019s class, along with Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter (a likely top-three pick). Given the greater needs on most of the teams that pick in front of Dallas, it\u2019d be a surprise if both McMillan and Golden were off the board by the time they pick at No. 12.<\/p>\n

    The Cowboys have been searching for a capable No. 2 receiver since dealing Amari Cooper to the Cleveland Browns in the 2022 offseason. Michael Gallup and Brandin Cooks never filled the void, and 2022 third-round pick Jalen Tolbert is better suited for a WR3 role.<\/p>\n

    Prescott had a career year in 2023 with Lamb as his only game-changing playmaker. If the Cowboys could add another stud receiver in the opening round, it would push Dallas that much closer to contending again in the NFC.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
