Often criticized for doing the bare minimum to address roster deficiencies, the Dallas Cowboys plugged their glaring hole at wide receiver by\u00a0acquiring wide receiver George Pickens\u00a0from the Pittsburgh Steelers.<\/p>\n

While Pickens’ arrival gives the offense a needed jolt at a crucial position, it is a bit head-scratching when you consider his off-field baggage.<\/p>\n

The 24-year-old has a penchant for letting his emotions get the best of him and made a habit out of showing up late to team meetings. He was even tardy to various games over his three seasons, per\u00a0Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.<\/p>\n

The Cowboys should know all about Pickens’ antics after he got in a kerfuffle with now-former cornerback Jourdan Lewis after Dallas’ last-minute win in Pittsburgh last season. Now with the Jaguars,\u00a0Lewis had a relatable reaction\u00a0once he caught wind of the trade.<\/p>\n

“Confirmation, God wanted me in Jacksonville,” Lewis tweeted after the trade became official.<\/p>\n

After jawing with Pickens back-and-forth all game, Lewis displayed a little gamesmanship and celebrated Dallas’ win on Sunday Night Football in Pickens’ face. Nothing out of the ordinary in today’s NFL by any means, but\u00a0Pickens responded by yanking Lewis to the turf by his facemask.<\/p>\n

It was a sore loser move by Pickens, who is lucky Lewis was not injured.<\/p>\n

Ever a bulldog, Lewis popped right back up and was ready for a scrap, but the officiating crew intervened.\u00a0The veteran cornerback ultimately got the last laugh\u00a0on his way back to the locker room when he uttered “Pittsburgh need a receiver. George Pickens weak.”<\/p>\n

Lewis played a huge role in limiting Pickens to three catches for 26 yards on seven targets in the game. Pickens seemingly retaliated over that and the fact he played just 34 of the Steelers’ 58 offensive snaps.<\/p>\n

The exchange is a perfect encapsulation of what the Cowboys are getting in Pickens. While an elite talent, his off-field presence flies in the face of head coach Brian Schottenheimer’s desire to cultivate a first-class culture. It’ll be on Schottenheimer, but also locker room leaders Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, Micah Parsons and Tyler Smith, to keep Pickens in line.<\/p>\n
