The Pittsburgh Steelers almost traded for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk last season. And now?<\/div>\n

The\u00a0Pittsburgh Steelers\u00a0just traded away one of their best offensive weapons in George Pickens, so they could be on the lookout for someone to take his place on the outside.<\/p>\n

And Pro Football Talk creator Mike Florio has an idea.<\/p>\n

On a recent appearance on 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh, Florio made a bold statement regarding the Steelers and former trade target\u00a0Brandon Aiyuk.<\/p>\n

“The\u00a049ers would love to unload Brandon Aiyuk\u2019s contract on the Steelers,” Florio said.<\/p>\n

Last season, the\u00a0San Francisco 49ers\u00a0star was looking for a new contract, which the team was not giving him at the time. Aiyuk then requested a trade from the team, and the Steelers were one of, if not the most likely suitor.<\/p>\n

There was even reportedly a deal in place that would see Pittsburgh sending the Niners multiple picks, but then San Francisco bit the bullet and gave Aiyuk the contract he was looking for.<\/p>\n

The deal ended up being for four years and worth $120 million, with $76 million of it guaranteed.<\/p>\n

Now, Florio thinks the Steelers could try again and trade for Aiyuk now that there is a bit of a hole in their receiver corps. The team’s WR2 is currently listed as Robert Woods, so an upgrade could be in the team’s best interests.<\/p>\n

The team has mostly relied on their defense to carry them to the playoffs the past several seasons, but adding to the offense with a trade for Aiyuk could be something for the team to consider.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
