Milos Raonic has had many injuries during his career and has not been able to pose a constant threat to the dominance of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. The Canadian had a game very suitable for modern tennis and was able to put any opponent in trouble when he was at the top of his shape, as evidenced by the fact that he reached the third position in the ATP rankings and played the final at the Wimbledon Championships in 2016 (losing to Andy Murray).<\/p>\n

The former world number 3 would certainly have deserved better luck, but the mix of injuries and the presence of the Big 3 in their ‘prime’ prevented him from winning even a single Masters 1000. Milos probably had the best moment of his career with Riccardo Piatti as coach, before the latter followed the start of the career of current world number 1 Jannik Sinner. Interviewed by ‘Tennis Channel’ during the Rome Masters 1000, Piatti said that Raonic had all the skills to be able to beat the Big 3: “I liked his game right away. When I first saw him, I was still Richard Gasquet’s coach and I thought Raonic could defeat the best players in the world.<\/p>\n

At that time, the best were Federer, Nadal and Djokovic. Milos had a totally different game from that of the Big 3, but he could put them in enormous difficulty with his serve and forehand. Also, he was a very intelligent player.<\/p>\n

I hoped to take him up to the first position of the ATP ranking, instead he reached the third position as the best ranking. His main weakness was that he was injured too often and it was impossible to find continuity.”<\/p>\n
