{"id":50122,"date":"2025-05-22T02:46:53","date_gmt":"2025-05-22T02:46:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/usatoday.azontree.com\/?p=50122"},"modified":"2025-05-22T02:46:53","modified_gmt":"2025-05-22T02:46:53","slug":"breaking-aaron-rodgers-reveals-tragic-reason-for-delay-in-steelers-signing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/usatoday.azontree.com\/?p=50122","title":{"rendered":"BREAKING Aaron Rodgers Reveals Tragic Reason For Delay in Steelers Signing.."},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"m-detail-header--dek\">Aaron Rodgers told a tale of personal tragedy and difficulties when explaining his delay in making a decision to play with the Pittsburgh Steelers.<\/div>\n<div class=\"m-detail-header--flexbox\">\n<div class=\"m-detail-header--meta\">\n<div class=\"m-description--list\">\n<p>Will he play football in 2025 or won&#8217;t he?\u00a0It&#8217;s the league&#8217;s biggest storyline right now and it has been for months.<\/p>\n<p>NFL\u00a0veteran free agent\u00a0quarterback\u00a0Aaron Rodgers\u00a0is playing the long waiting game before making a decision on whether or not to play football next season and if so, if it will be with the\u00a0Pittsburgh Steelers.<\/p>\n<p>While appearing on\u00a0&#8220;The Joe Rogan Experience&#8221; podcast on Wednesday, Rodgers dropped a bombshell.<\/p>\n<p><iframe class=\"ql-video\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Xj_dO-7Ct_4?showinfo=0\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve figured it out the last year when I&#8217;ve been in the weeds with these people who are close to me that have cancer,&#8221;\u00a0Rodgers said.<\/p>\n<p>Rodgers mentioned last month on &#8220;The Pat McAfee Show&#8221; that he&#8217;s got a ton of personal issues going on, so this just backs up that earlier story.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I mean it&#8217;s a small percentage,&#8221; Rodgers said. &#8220;Because the conversations have been had. There&#8217;s no more contemplation. I&#8217;m taking care of my people right now, and I&#8217;m taking care of my personal life responsibilities, and I&#8217;m keeping the conversation open as well. I&#8217;m in a serious relationship. I have off-the-field stuff going on that requires my attention. I have personal commitments I have made. I have a couple of people in my inner, inner circle who are battling some difficult stuff. So, I have a lot of things that are taking my attention.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The 41-year-old four-time NFL MVP from his\u00a0Green Bay Packers\u00a0days is coming off a sour experience with the\u00a0New York Jets. Last year, he was able to help that club to just a 5-10 record.<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s Steelers moved off of Russell Wilson and\u00a0Justin Fields\u00a0in part because they are under the belief that they will eventually land the enigmatic Rodgers.<\/p>\n<p>Newer context reveals how far his relationship has progressed, as it now appears to be another priority over football.<\/p>\n<p>While he&#8217;s dealing with his personal priorities and possibly helping close friends who are dealing with personal tragedies and struggles, it&#8217;s proper to wonder if he&#8217;ll have the mindset or desire to play football again.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Aaron Rodgers told a tale of personal tragedy and difficulties when explaining his delay in making a decision to play with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
