In the seventh round with the 231st overall pick in the 2025\u00a0NFL Draft, the\u00a0Miami Dolphins\u00a0took a shot on former No. 1 overall recruit and\u00a0Texas Longhorns\u00a0star\u00a0quarterback,\u00a0Quinn Ewers.<\/p>\n

While he departed Texas as one of the most accomplished in program history and led the program to back-to-back College Football Playoff appearances, injuries ravaged his career. He missed multiple games in all three of his seasons, and an oblique injury this past season is believed to have really impacted his ability to throw the ball downfield.<\/p>\n

Although the former perfectly rated recruit was expected to go higher in the draft, he still has a prime opportunity to carve out a role in a Dolphins system that is quite comparable to the one Steve Sarkisian runs at Texas.<\/p>\n

With the offseason activities in full swing, Ewers was able to partake in the rookie minicamp with the Dolphins. He also recently announced a partnership with\u00a0Panini America, which allowed\u00a0him and fans to get a first look at him in full Dolphins uniform.<\/p>\n

The Dolphins shared a couple of pictures of Ewers from the Rookie Premier, captioning the post “Quinn reppin’ at the #RookiePremier.”<\/p>\n

Even though he wore No. 3 during his time as a Longhorn, that number was taken by fifth-year veteran\u00a0K.J. Britt, so Ewers had since made the change to No. 14.<\/p>\n

Whether it was intentional on his part or not is unclear, but Ewers did end up being the 14th quarterback selected in this year’s draft, counting Montana State’s Tommy Mellott who will make the change to wide receiver for the\u00a0Las Vegas Raiders.<\/p>\n

The deal that Ewers inked with the Dolphins is for four years and worth $4.3 million. While there were rumors he turned down an $8 million NIL offer to return to college and transfer, Ewers made it clear he wanted to finish his career as a Longhorn.<\/p>\n

According to NBC Sports, Ewers’ deal with Panini is also worth a\u00a0reported\u00a0$3 million, so while fans may question his decision to leave, he is still compensated quite well for a seventh-round pick.<\/p>\n

In terms of his role with the Dolphins, Ewers will be competing for the backup role with former first-round pick Zach Wilson.<\/p>\n<\/article>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
