The\u00a0Nebraska Cornhuskers\u00a0are getting primetime treatment for their 2025 season opener in one of the\u00a0NFL\u2019s most iconic stadiums with a couple of NFL icons promising to show up.<\/p>\n

Nebraska\u2019s matchup with the\u00a0Cincinnati Bearcats\u00a0in Kansas City on Thursday, Aug. 28, will be televised on ESPN with kickoff set for 8 p.m. CT. The Huskers and Bearcats will square off at\u00a0GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, Nebraska\u2019s first contest at the home of the\u00a0Kansas City Chiefs\u00a0since the 2006\u00a0Big 12\u00a0Championship Game.<\/p>\n

The game promises to have some star power in the stands, as Cincy alums Jason and\u00a0Travis Kelce\u00a0have already said\u00a0they’re going to the game. Travis, of course, plays for the Chiefs.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s also Nebraska\u2019s first regular-season game in Kansas City since 1998. The matchup was originally scheduled as a Cincinnati home game before being moved to a neutral site. It marks just the second all-time meeting between the schools and the first since a 1906 matchup in Lincoln.<\/p>\n

The Cincinnati game in Kansas City marks Nebraska\u2019s second neutral-site opener in four seasons after opening the 2022 season against Northwestern in Dublin, Ireland. It also marks the fourth time in the past five seasons Nebraska has opened the season either in Week Zero or on a Thursday night. Nebraska opened the 2023 season at Minnesota in a Thursday night contest.<\/p>\n
