If\u00a0Bleacher Report\u2019s Kristopher Knox\u00a0is right, the Baltimore Ravens might just be the ideal destination \u2014 and could be positioned to pull off a late-offseason blockbuster.<\/p>\n

The Ravens finished the 2024 season ranked 31st in the NFL in passing yards allowed, reflecting a need for reinforcements. Baltimore made some quiet moves this offseason, signing veteran Chidobe Awuzie in free agency and using sixth-round picks on cornerbacks Bilhal Kone and Robert Longerbeam.<\/p>\n

Yet, for a team with Super Bowl aspirations, Knox believes it\u2019s time for a splash.<\/p>\n

\u201cTaking a flier on Ramsey would make sense and would certainly fit Baltimore’s MO,\u201d Knox wrote. \u201cBaltimore has been trying to catch the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl race for several seasons now and couldn’t possibly head into the playoffs with too much cornerback depth.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also noted the Ravens\u2019 history of rolling the dice on older veterans \u2014 and Ramsey fits the mold.<\/p>\n

\u201cGeneral manager Eric DeCosta also has a track record of adding older vets if he believes they can help the team. In recent years, that has meant adding players like Odell Beckham Jr., Derrick Henry and DeAndre Hopkins.\u201d<\/p>\n

CBS Sports\u2019 Brad Crawford\u00a0echoed that same thinking in his recent analysis.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Ravens ranked 31st in the NFL in passing yards allowed and have added several players since falling short in their bid to reach the Super Bowl,\u201d Crawford wrote. \u201cAfter signing Chidobe Awuzie in free agency, Baltimore drafted Bilhal Kone and Robert Longerbeam in the sixth round for more looks at corner. The Ravens also have a bit of history signing veterans in key spots \u2014 with varying levels of impact. Odell Beckham Jr. played just one season in 2023, but the addition of Derrick Henry last spring has worked out beautifully after the ballcarrier spent the first eight years of his NFL career in Tennessee.\u201d<\/p>\n

There\u2019s also a familiarity factor at play. Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver spent three seasons with the Ravens before taking the job in Miami. Considering Weaver and Orr coached together in 2022 and 2023, their defensive philosophies may be aligned \u2014 potentially easing Ramsey\u2019s transition should a trade go down.<\/p>\n

The nine-year veteran is under contract through 2028 and is owed $24.3 million guaranteed for the 2025 season. Any deal involving Ramsey cannot be processed until after June 1 due to salary cap restrictions.<\/p>\n

But with the Dolphins reportedly\u00a0receiving more interest than previously believed\u00a0\u2014 and the Ravens quietly in need of another proven piece in the secondary \u2014 this one is worth watching.<\/p>\n<\/article>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
