The\u00a0Miami Dolphins\u00a0are expected to make a significant move this summer \u2014 and all signs point to Jalen Ramsey being at the center of it. This possibility has been on the radar for a while. Ramsey carries a massive contract, and the Dolphins are stuck in cap purgatory.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Rams lack both consistency and top-level play in their cornerback ranks \u2014 the biggest deficiency in this young, acclaimed defense. The front office did almost nothing to invest in the unit this offseason, but the opportunity to make a splash is still alive should the Rams make a play to bring Jalen Ramsey back to Los Angeles,\u201d\u00a0Mason Cameron wrote.<\/p>\n
A trade involving Ramsey could be finalized soon \u2014 possibly within the next month.<\/p>\n
\u201cESPN’s Adam Schefter reports \u2018there’s more interest in Jalen Ramsey than people realize.\u2019 Trade could be announced in June, potentially. Schefter notes if trade happens before, it wouldn’t be processed until after June 1 for cap reasons,\u201d\u00a0Barry Jackson posted.<\/p>\n
While this may be the first domino to fall, the Dolphins need to consider their long-term financial situation. The outlook for 2026 is no better \u2014 they currently have just $4.8 million in projected cap space. That likely means another big contract will have to be moved, and Bradley Chubb is a strong candidate.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Dolphins currently have $4.8 million in cap room next year. That will most assuredly change for a lot of reasons, but it is an indication of what 2026 could potentially be like. Chubb will count $31 million against the cap. The only way Miami recovers any of that is to either trade him this year or cut him after June 1, 2026, where they will eat $10 million but save $20 million,\u201d\u00a0Brian Miller wrote.<\/p>\n
