Dan Imhoff<\/span><\/div>\n<p><button class=\"socialShare\" data-v-0d561fae=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"socialSharing\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rolandgarros.com\/img\/socialShare.svg\" alt=\"\" data-v-0d561fae=\"\" \/><\/button><\/div>\n<div class=\"content\" data-v-0d561fae=\"\">\n<div class=\"first-content-section\" data-v-0d561fae=\"\">\n<div data-v-0d561fae=\"\">\n<div class=\"text\">\n<p><em>Novak Djokovic (6) bt Corentin Moutet 6-3, 6-2, 7-6(1).<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rolandgarros.com\/en-us\/players\/9801-n.djokovic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Novak Djokovic<\/a>\u2019s unbeaten streak against the locals at Roland-Garros has stretched to 12 after subduing a late-charging Corentin Moutet to reach the third round on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>West Parisien Moutet had the wheels, the touch and the bravado to rattle many a rival but the three-time champion was up to task and kept him contained in a straight-sets progression.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"body-ad-article\" data-v-0d561fae=\"\">\n<div id=\"bodyBanner\" class=\"pub\" data-v-435d51bd=\"\" data-v-0d561fae=\"\">\n<div class=\"placeholder_container\" data-v-435d51bd=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rolandgarros.com\/img\/PlaceholderRGPub\/placeholder_light_en_778_150.svg\" alt=\"\" width=\"778\" height=\"150\" data-v-435d51bd=\"\" \/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content-section\" data-v-0d561fae=\"\">\n<div data-v-0d561fae=\"\">\n<div class=\"text\">\n<h3>Story of the match<\/h3>\n<p>The shackles were off following Djokovic\u2019s drought-breaking 100th career singles title in Geneva leading in and it was one less concern as he maintained focus on his 21st Paris campaign.<\/p>\n<p>The 38-year-old\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rolandgarros.com\/en-us\/article\/rg2025-numbers-game-for-novak-in-chase-for-25\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">breezed past Mackenzie McDonald<\/a>\u00a0ahead of his third meeting with Moutet, who as history shows had a momentous task on his plate.<\/p>\n<p>The 73rd-ranked Frenchman had never taken a set off his heavily fancied foe and was aiming to become the first player to deny Djokovic before the quarter-finals in Paris since Philipp Kohlschreiber in 2009 and the first since Denis Istomin at Australian Open 2017 to humble him in the second round at any Slam.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content-section\" data-v-0d561fae=\"\">\n<div data-v-0d561fae=\"\">\n<div data-v-d0266022=\"\">\n<div id=\"2\" class=\"main-img-container\" data-v-d0266022=\"\">\n<div class=\"main-img centered-image-wrapper\" data-v-d0266022=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images.prismic.io\/fft-rg-commun-news\/aDjEASdWJ-7kStHg_20250529_RG_NG_8537-min.JPG?auto=format,compress&amp;w=1000&amp;h=800\" alt=\"Novak Djokovic, Roland-Garros 2025, second round\" width=\"3000\" height=\"2000\" \/><small class=\"copyright\">\u00a9Nicolas Gouhier \/ FFT<\/small><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content-section\" data-v-0d561fae=\"\">\n<div data-v-0d561fae=\"\">\n<div class=\"text\">\n<p>Moutet last year matched his deepest run at a major with a fourth-round finish on home soil and looked immediately up for the fight with the Suzanne-Lenglen crowd egging him on.<\/p>\n<p>A break from the off gave him a spring in his step but in no way set the tone of the opening set as Djokovic quickly kicked into gear and rolled through it in 43 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>The Frenchman survived a 12-minute struggle on serve to open the second set, an indication of just how hard he had to labour to keep himself in with a chance.<\/p>\n<p>A moment of Moutet magic \u2013 a set-point saving tweener half-volley winner \u2013 drew a wide grin of approval from his opponent but only delayed the inevitable as Djokovic surged to a two-set lead.<\/p>\n<p>On serve at 2-3 in the third, Djokovic received treatment on his left big toe for a blister after he pulled up gingerly on the run.
