The\u00a0Pittsburgh Steelers’ singular focus on roster-building isn’t just about\u00a0quarterback\u00a0Aaron Rodgers.<\/p>\n

Additionally, word leaks on Thursday that they are in pursuit of a potential Rodgers weapon in\u00a0Miami Dolphins\u00a0tight end Jonnu Smith.<\/p>\n

ESPN insider Adam Schefter notes that the Dolphins are hoping to get Smith to rework his current deal, but failing that, are are open to trading him.<\/p>\n

In 2024, Smith put up 88 receptions for 884 yards and eight touchdowns, setting franchise records in all three of those categories for the Dolphins by a tight end.<\/p>\n

What’s so special about Smith? Frankly, it is his connection with\u00a0Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, who previously coached Jonnu on both the\u00a0Tennessee Titans\u00a0and the\u00a0Atlanta Falcons\u00a0prior to him joining the Steelers coaching staff under Mike Tomlin.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile,\u00a0Mason Rudolph sits atop the Steelers depth chart and the team awaits a decision from Rodgers.<\/p>\n

And yes, Rudolph, is conceding that it amounts to a “constant noise.”<\/p>\n

In a blunt take on the odd situation, Rudolph is saying that some level of high-profile discomfort is “the nature of the\u00a0NFL” and is therefore something he’s grown accustomed to.<\/p>\n

But …<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s nothing new to me. There\u2019s been constant noise,” he said. \u201cThat is the nature of the NFL. So I am used to that for a long time. Now I\u2019m doing nothing but being the best I can be to help our team get better this spring.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maybe the Steelers get it from free agent Rodgers.<\/p>\n
